Five
days after the remains of a 34-year-old man identified as Kayode was
dumped in a cesspit in the Baruwa area of Ipaja, the police in Lagos
State have arrested the mother of the deceased, Mrs. Bosede Adekunle.According
to reports, Kayode who had been sick for some time was living with his
widowed mother and two sisters who were taking care of him until he gave
up the ghost under unclear circumstances.
Mrs. Adekunle allegedly dumped the corpse in the cesspit and the stench later caught the attention of a resident who traced the smell and found Kayode’s decomposing body.
As soon as an alarm was raised, a crowd gathered and Kayode’s body was recovered from the cesspit and an angry mob descended on Mrs. Adekunle before she was saved by policemen from the Ipaja division who arrested and took her away to the station for questioning.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigations into the matter were ongoing, and that Local government health officials were contacted for evacuation of the decomposing corpse.
